Tips for natural shiny hair

Sun, wind, saltwater, pollution, and chemicals are just some of the shine-depleting elements your hair may be subjected to on a daily basis. They can strip your hair of its natural oils and create build-up leaving it dull and lifeless. Fortunately, Mother Nature has a few remedies to share.

The Alluring Avocado
Mash an avocado (one avocado for short hair, two for long) in a bowl until it forms a thick paste. Spread the paste on your hair from root to tip and leave on for 20 minutes. Shampoo and rinse. Avocados are high in fatty acids and nutrients. Feed your hair!

Amazing Apple Cider Vinegar
Mix half a cup of apple cider vinegar with one quart of water and use as a hair rinse after your regular shampoo. Rich in alpha-hydroxy acids, apple cider vinegar helps break down residue build-up leaving your hair soft and full of shine. Rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar and it will be shining in no time.

Eggs Over Olive Oil
Beat together two eggs for short hair, three for long, and add in three tablespoons of olive oil. Coat your hair from root to tip and leave on for 30 minutes. Shampoo and rinse. Eggs contain eleven essential nutrients and are packed with protein. Combine them with olive oil for conditioning and nourishment and you have one powerful duo.

Coconut Craze
Warm three tablespoons of coconut oil and gently comb into your hair from root to tip. Wrap your hair in a hot towel and let the oil sit for 30 minutes. Shampoo and rinse. Loaded with antioxidants, coconut oil works to smooth dry and damaged cuticles and lock in shine.

New tips for Summer!

This Summer update your look with a few simple changes to your routine. With these tips, you'll look fresh and beautiful all summer long!

1. Smoky Eyes

Smoky eyes have always been popular but the black and gray shades used to achieve them aren't always appropriate for spring. This season try smoky eyes using brown, gold, violet or green shadow. Look for eye shadow collections with four colors in the same family to easily achieve smoky spring eyes. Usually the lightest color goes on your lid area, the middle color in the crease and the darkest color to the outer corner top of your lid, for depth. The 4th color (if any) is used as a highlight - below the brow area, or in the inner corner of the eye.

2. Soft Lip Colors

Nude lip colors were hot on the runways this spring. You can get the same look by using a soft lip shade that is close to the color of your lips, then blotting and lightly brushing on face powder. If you don't want to go nude, try a shimmery pink for a pretty spring look.

3. Healthy skin

Healthy skin is always in style, but this spring it's the hottest fashion accessory. Fashion runways for Spring 2009 featured barely there makeup and flawless skin. Make sure to moisturize daily to keep your skin soft and smooth. Use a tinted moisturizer and peach blush to complete the look.

When it comes to healthy skin, regular cleaning with a natural cotton cloth and a natural, paraben-free cleanser is a sure bet. When you avoid products with preservatives (like parabens) your skin is going to be healthier, happier and acne free.

You might consider some natural organic makeup this Summer. Natural mineral makeup is not only the latest "fad" - it's also better for your skin! Safer, natural products ensure clear pores and no breakouts.

Tips For Healthy and Strong Fingernails

Posted by Everything to know about Beauty! | 10:31 PM | 0 comments »

When I was in high school, a friend of mine used to see a doctor because of indentations on her fingernails. I figured that she was simply very fussy. When I finally asked her, I found out that having those dents in your nails can be a sign of illness. So apart from having strong nails in preparation for a nice pedicure and manicure, it won't do any harm to take good care of nails. If you want to make certain that you keep your nails in good condition, continue to read.

1. Regularly trim your nails. This guarantees you not only lovely nails, but removes any dirt hidden beneath your nail bed, which is unhygienic and unattractive. It is important that you replace your nail clippers from time to time, as old ones can become rusty and contain bacteria, resulting in an infection or tetanus. Use sharp clippers when cutting your nails and then file with an emery board.

2. Along with clipping your nails, don't bite them! This makes your nails look really unattractive. It is unhealthy too, since it damages the nail bed and allows infection from fungi or bacteria to enter. Be careful if you or those around you bite nails - nail biting may be an indicator of psychological problems.

3. Put on gloves when you are hand washing clothes. If you have to hand wash for long periods, use rubber gloves to protect your hands and nails. Do the same with other housework, when using abrasive chemicals.

4. Many of us are unaware that nails also need to be moisturized. Cover your nails with hand lotion to give them a dose of moisturizer. The more your hands are in water, the more you should replace the moisture, especially for your hands and nails. Nail polish remover can really dry the nails, so moisturize after removing polish too. If your nails are weak, moisturize them at night before you sleep. A pair of gloves made of cotton worn throughout the night will retain moisture in both the hands and fingernails.

5. If you have weak, breakable nails, there are nail hardening products you can use. Just avoid using preparations that have toluene sulfonamide or formaldehyde because they can cause stains on your nails and also skin irritation.

If you have a hangnail be sure to clip it instead of pulling it off. Lastly, don't use your fingernails to open a soda can. This could result in your nails breaking. Hope these tips have been helpful!

Tips on Hiding Your Body Piercings For Work

It can be regrettable that we have to have a job in order to live, but it is a tragedy that not all jobs let us express our individuality. Piercings, particularly piercings on the face, are a great way to express individuality, but some employers ban them because of the way it may reflect on the company image. Big corporations will have a dress code for employees - right down to hair style! Even lower pay jobs such as waiting on tables don't hire those with piercings because they think it looks "dirty" and reflects badly on the establishment. If you do not want to get rid of the piercings and lose your job, your best bet is to hide them.
Here are some of the most common piercings and ways you can hide them from employers.
Ears. You can purchase see-through retainers for your earlobe piercings at fashion jewelry stores. You can expect them to be small wires that average half an inch long. It's best to carry a few retainers as they may not stay locked onto your piercing. You will have to periodically check if they are still in.
Stretched earlobes. It is not impossible to hide these, just a bit trickier. Kaos offers skin-colored hiders in different shades that look pretty real. If you're female, stretched lobes are easier to conceal - just wear plugs and they will look like big stud earrings.
Tongue. The nice thing is that you can hide this piercing which is not as obvious as an eyebrow or lip piercing. However, you can spot a tongue piercing whenever someone yawns or laughs. Luckily, acrylic retainers are available in different sizes. An acrylic retainer is the same shape as your tongue jewelry, but it's completely see-through so that it blends in with your tongue. These can replace your tongue's barbell. Acrylic retainers are readily available and not too expensive. Another choice is the skin-colored retainer - these are surgical steel rods with skin-colored discs at each end. Only problem is that these are expensive and made by less companies. It is also possible to attach clear balls or discs to your barbell. Though not as successful as the first two ideas, they are good for an emergency, like if the boss comes to see how you're doing.
Eyebrow. There are a lot of accessory companies that sell small metal retainers that look like tiny crochet hooks. This may not work if you have thin brow hair or your piercing is shallow. See-through retainers made out of plastic would work but they are harder to find. But if it's a one-off emergency and you need to hide your piercing for a short amount of time, just remove the balls!
Lip piercing. There are also see-through retainers for lip piercings, a bit like tongue piercings but shorter. In extreme cases, or short periods, like a meeting, just take out the ball and stud.

Do you have those terrible looking dark circles under your eyes? Is it uncomfortable going out in public and having people constantly ask you if you are all right? Well, there are actually several things you can do to get rid of those dark circles. We will give you a couple of tips on how to get rid of those dark circles under eyes.
First you can look to the market. There are lots of very good under eye creams that really help, but you need to look at the ingredients and make sure that there is an anti inflammatory ingredient, and another that helps increase the circulation to the area. Look at different reviews to get some options.
Never under estimate the power of rest. If you are not getting enough sleep or are always very tense, then no matter how good your under eye cream is you will suffer from under eye circles. You need to get enough sleep and enough rest.
Diet and water are also important. Under eye circles are also caused by a lack of moisture, so you need to be sure and get enough water, and you need to eat healthily. Get more fruits and vegetables into your diet and eliminate foods that are high in saturated fats.
Try natural products. There are also some natural remedies that can help reduce inflammation and lighten the under eye area. Cut a couple of slices of potato and place them on your eye. These are known to reduce swelling and lighten the skin color under the eyes. Place the slices on your eyes for about twenty minutes a day. You can also use cucumber slices, as these work similarly.

A Complete Guide to the Best Hair Care

Posted by Everything to know about Beauty! | 10:26 PM | 0 comments »

The best hair care involves the simple act of combing your hair which can be done in many different ways. A child will interpret it as starting at the top of the head and running the comb through the strands of hair to their full length, but this does not serve to give shape to the hairdo.
There are as many ways of combing your hair (and I don't mean styling) as there are hairs in your head. The basic steps of most of these different methods are: putting the comb in your hair, when you take it out, and how you take it out.
By when you take the comb out I mean that you may pull it partly through your hair or through whatever percentage of your hair you comb at one stroke. By how you take it out I mean what movement you use in taking the comb out of your hair and what you do to the hair as you do so.
In other words, the right flick of the comb could mean that curls appear, or waves, or a flat look or a full look. Experiment with different methods or invent your own method, and see what different kinds of results you can get by varying the ways you can comb the same old hairdo.
In combing out hair after it has been set, ninety per cent of all hairdos should be combed away from the face and with an upward movement. This system of combing is suitable both for down and forward hairdos and for those with back or side interest.
One of the purposes of combing the hair this way is to make the bottom hair appear thicker and stand away from the head. You must realize that, even though you may apparently comb and set the hair in a head -hugging line, you may still want it to stand away from the head at certain points. Combing it back first is one of the little magic tricks which you can use to achieve a certain look by using an unobvious method rather than the obvious method, which would be to curl it.
The best hair care will mean lacquer is used only for certain specific purposes. I recommend lacquer simply as a means of securing hair in place, using it as you would a pin, barrette or comb.
For instance, if you want to keep your front hair in place when it is inclined to fall down over your forehead, a "pin-point" of lacquer will do this effectively. Apply a little lacquer at the spot where you would insert a bobby pin or barrette. The rest of the hair will remain soft and fluffy, but the lacquer will anchor the strands in place.
Lacquer is helpful, too, when you want to smooth back the hair at the temples. When the temple hair proves uncooperative or unruly, it can be sleeked back by a light application of lacquer.
Hair should be brushed or combed back before being brought forward, to give it a fuller appearance.
Take care with your comb and you will have a much more beautiful style. This will mean you have the best hair care possible.
